Born in New Zealand now residing in Australia, the deep reverbs and modulating filtering delays of minimal dub techno and dubtronica is where SUBSET calls home. His sound comprises four parts dub, one part deep house, equal parts minimal and techno, all dusted with an organic blend of evolving atmospheres and live filtering delays. SUBSET’s live shows range from downtempo dub to dancefloor-ready dub techno, with tracks re-arranged and augmented on the fly, utilising custom touchscreen controllers and MIDI synths triggered by live guitar, making each performance unique. The last few years have seen SUBSET release a number of EPs and remixes on labels such as Dimbideep, Deeptakt, Drift Deeper, Arctic Dub, Telrae, Dubmission Records, ROHS!, Echogarden, Hello Strange, Deep Electronics, Superordinate Dub Waves, Tehnofonika, and his own label The Dub Factory, along with curating the net radio station Chillkyway. SUBSET's most recent offering, the 5-track remix EP ‘Recoded’ is out September 1st on Dubmission Records and features remixes by Brisbane-based dub operators Drew Id, Nightjah, Integer, Echo Dex & Echo Inspectors.
